Srinagar, Feb 24: A two-wheeler and some Shikaras were damaged after a portion of road at world famous Dal Lake caved in on Wednesday afternoon. The roadside at Dalgate area caved in all of a sudden. Officials said that no loss of life or injury was reported during the incident.
However, locals said that a Scooty, which was parked on the roadside got damaged and fell into the Dal Lake.
They said that some Shikaras were also damaged in the incident.
Official sources said that panic gripped Dal Gate in civil lines on Wednesday evening when a portion of Boulevard road collapsed at Badyari Chowk in Srinagar. “A scooty that was parked on the roadside fell into the lake,” they said, adding no one was injured in the accident. They said traffic has been stopped on the road and vehicles are being allowed to move on the other side of the road. “Traffic has also been stopped on the bridge adjoining to the damaged road,” they added. |
