Mission Director NHM inspects examination centers at Jammu

JAMMU, Feb 24: Mission Director, National Health Mission, Jammu and Kashmir, Choudhary Mohammed Yasin, today inspected examination centres established at Jammu for selection of candidates for 6 months Certificate Course in Community Health.
Pertinently, these certificate courses in Community Health are aimed at to strengthen Primary Health Care through Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) across the UT of J&K for providing Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) under Ayushman Bharat. The examination is being conducted in collaboration with SP College, Srinagar in the selected centres of Jammu and Kashmir divisions. A total of 733 candidates appeared in 2 centres in Jammu division and 1367 candidates appeared in 2 centres in Kashmir Division for BUMS, BSc Nursing and GNMs streams.
Yasin was accompanied by HOD Mathematics, SP College, Professor Mushtaq Ahmad and Professor Showkat Ahmed Zargar, who was the chief observer from Public Service Commission.
MD said that the candidates who will qualify the exam shall undergo six months Certificate Course in Community Health for January 2021 session from IGNOU/ University of Kashmir in designated Programme Study Centres. He said, after successful completion of 6 months training, these candidates shall be placed as Mid Level Health Providers (MLHPs) in the HWCs at Sub-Centre level, to ensure Comprehensive Primary Health Care to the people at grass root level. He said, the Union Territory of J&K has embarked upon an ambitious healthcare up gradation programme to upgrade all the Primary Health Centres, NTPHCs, UPHCs and Sub-Centres as Health and Wellness Centres (H&WCs) by December 2022 in a phased manner. Pertinent to mention that Health & Wellness Centres are the platform to deliver Comprehensive Primary Health Care services, which are universal and free for users, with focus on wellness and delivery of expanded range of services close to the community. Presently, it includes 12 packages of services including Population based screening of common Non- Communicable Diseases (Hypertension & Diabetes) and common Cancers viz., Breast, Oral and Cervical cancer among the population of 30 years and above.
