2/25/2021 11:11:46 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 25: Kalakote Police allegedly refused to acknowledge a complaint lodged by the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Kalakote for registering a case against a local, who supposedly prevented and abused a government official from his duties.
According to a copy of the complaint available with Early Times, the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Kalakote requested SHO Kalakote for registration of the case two days back, but no case has been registered yet.
“This Office received a complaint regarding nuisances created in a public lane near V.S.K School Kalakote. The official of this committee namely Romesh Chander, Khilafwarzi Inspector with field worker deputed to stop the illegal nuisance created by Ashok Kumar and his brother. The Khilafwarzi Inspector came back with the complaint that he had been abused by Ashok Kumar and tried to beat him in an open public lane, this act is punishable and the employees of the committee harassed badly”, copy of letter vide no. MC/KK/2020-21/409-14, dated 22/02/2021.
“It is not possible to work in the field like this unruly activity of the encroachers. It is as such requested to lodge FIR against Ashok Kumar and his brothers with intimation to this office, so that the employee of the committee may not be harassed and suffer further”, the letter further read.
However, sources said that no case has been registered yet. “Two days have passed since the EO office lodged a complaint. It shows that Police is not willing to register a case. It will encourage mischievous elements and discourage the government officials from performing their duties”, they said. SHO Kalakote Amin Chowdhury when contacted said that he has summoned both parties. “The accused as well as complainant have been asked for appearance Friday, and accordingly further action into the complaint will be taken”, he added.
