SRINAGAR, Feb 25: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir witnessed a spike in fresh Corona Virus cases as 108 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours. The only silver lining is that no virus related death was reported from any district of the union territory.
Srinagar district reported 47 fresh cases including 19 travelers followed by Udhampur district 23 cases including nine travelers, Jammu district eight cases, Baramulla district seven cases, Budgam district six cases, Anantnag and Kulgam districts four cases each, Pulwama district three cases, Kupwara and Ganderbal districts two cases each and Bandipora & Shopian districts one case each. No case was reported from Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 108 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 31 from Jammu division and 77 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,201.
Moreover, 59 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 11 from Jammu division and 48 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,201 positive cases, 820 are active positive, 1, 23,426 have recovered and 1,955 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1,230 in Kashmir division.
Out of 51, 17,679 test results available, 49, 91,478 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 12, 90,451 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,268 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 820 in isolation and 1, 08,271 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 45,137 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,900 positive cases, 340 active positive, 26,099 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,237 positive cases, 76 active positive, 7,986 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,876 positive cases, 42 active positive, 7,715 recovered, 119 deaths; Pulwama has 5,849 positive cases, 41 active positive, 5,718 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,681 positive cases, 10 active positive, 5,575 recovered, 96 deaths.
“Anantnag has 5,005 positive cases, 40 active positive, 4,879 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,714 positive cases, 17 active positive, 4,635 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,667 positive cases, 21 active positive, 4,599 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,727 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,656 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,603 positive cases, 23 active positive, 2,540 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,194 positive cases, 105 active positive, 24,716 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,301 positive cases, 58 active positive, 4,186 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, three active positive, 3,818 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,437 positive cases, one active positive, 3,372 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,258 positive cases, two active positive, 3,203 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,839 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,792 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,736 positive cases, three active positive, 2,711 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, 14 active positive, 2482 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1,630 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,201 positive cases in J&K, 12,242 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
