ACB raids ARTO office Anantnag, driving license trial venue

ANANTNAG, Feb 25: A week after 'Early Times Report', the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday raided the office of Assistant Regional Transport Office in South Kashmir Anantnag district.
A team of official also paid a surprise visit to driving license trial venue where driving tests were being conducted, however it wasn't immediately known whether they seized any documents or not.
Witnesses said that the team also checked some shops outside DC office Anantnag. "It is suspected that the shops searched by ACB team are owned by touts who work in close contact with the officials of ARTO office Anantnag and mint money from innocents on the pretext of issuing driving licenses," they said.
They said that the team also seized some gadgets driving license trial venue in Anantnag
A senior official of Motor Vehicle Department confirmed that ACB team raided the office of ARTO Anantnag. "Yes, they conducted searches," he said, however claimed that the agency didn't seize any document.
A week ago, Early Times published a report titled 'Touts call shots in ARTO office Anantnag, interfere into official work' and highlighted the fact that how agents were calling the shots and minting money from innocents.
The official who spook to Early Times had claimed that they were threatening and harassing them in case they don't oblige them by issuing driving licenses to those who people who they were recommending after extracting huge amounts from them.
They are harassing us and even file anonymous complaints against the officials in Anti-Corruption Bureau and LG's Grievance Cell if we don't oblige them," an officail alleged and said that these touts have filled twenty-two (22) anonymous complaints against the officers of MVD department in last month.
The official, who wished not to be named, told Early Times that one of the agents, who has a frightening past, was mostly interfering in official work.
"On multiple occasions we have written against this person and even have informed higher-ups and senior police officials about his activities but his entry into the DC office isn't being restricted," he claimed.
