10th J&K UT Shooting Championship begins

JAMMU, Feb 26: 10th J&K UT Shooting Championship was today declared open by Danesh Rana-IPS, at General Zorawar Singh Rifle Club Bari Brahmana Jammu. Around 100 shooters from various districts of J&K are participating in the championship. The shooters will compete in 10Mtr, 25Mtr and 50Mtr Rifle/Pistol events. The shooters who will attain minimum qualifying score (MQS) will be eligible to participate in 40th North Zone Shooting Championship which is scheduled to be held at Jaipur (Rajasthan) from Rifle/Pistol events from 23rd March to 6th April 2021.
It is for the first time that the entries for UT Shooting Championship have been submitted online by the shooters.
Earlier, the chief guest, Danesh Rana appreciated the efforts of J&K Rifle Association in conducting the championship and promoting the shooting sports in the J&K UT. He also apprized that J&K Police have always been instrumental in the promotion of games and sports, the first indoor shooting range was established at Gulshan Ground Jammu and large number of shooters have benefited and the indoor shooting range is open for aspiring shooters of the UT.
Prominent others present on the occasion included Kuldeep Singh Jamwal President-J&K Rifle Association, Amjad Parvez Mirza General Secretary, SS Sodhi Treasurer, S Jaipal Singh, Ashok Kumar Joint Secretary, Sharat Chander Singh Vice-President (ADM) Samar Dev Singh Charak (Advisor), Taranjit Singh Tony, Manu Partap Singh, Rahul Bakshi, Anupam Sambyal, M.L Mehra and Karandeep Singh. The matches will be conducted under the Technical Supervision of Rajesh Virdhy.
