Insurance fraud gang busted, UP based 3 fraudsters arrested

JAMMU, Feb 26: In a major breakthrough Cyber Police Jammu unearthed gang involved in commission of insurance fraud case and thereby looting hard earned money of innocent and gullible people of J&K.
Police succeeded in arresting three accused fraudsters from Bijnor, UP and recovered money looted from innocent people worth Rs 10 lakhs.
On 16-01-2021, a complainant was received at Cyber police station Jammu by one person namely Maidul Islam that he received a call on 07-12-2020 from unknown fraudsters pretending themselves from Max Insurance Company and allured the complainant by offering him bonus amount and subsequently convinced the complainant to deposit fee to claim the due insurance bonus and eventually duped the complainant with an amount of Rs 10 lakhs in multiple transactions.
In this, case FIR no 04/2021 got registered at Cyber Police Station Jammu. During the course of investigation, transactions involved were scrutinized and accordingly details were sought from concerned banks for the details of the account holders and in the process one account of Allahabad Bank branch Bijnor, UP has surfaced in which approximate Rs 6.5 lakhs of defrauded amount was credited.
Accordingly, the concerned bank branch Manager was contacted and details as provided by the branch manager revealed that the account was registered in the name of Mohd Gulsher resident of village Gopalpur Tehsil and Distt Bijnor UP age 32 years. Instantly based on the account details and analysis of the mobile records of accused, Police succeeded in locating the accused in Bijnor area of UP and accordingly team of Cyber Police Station Jammu led by Inspector Manoj Gupta, I/O of the instant case under the supervision of DySP Cyber Vaseem Hamdani and overall directions and guidelines of SP Cyber Naresh Singh rushed to Bijnor.
After strenuous efforts with the help of local Police, the team succeeded in rounding up three suspects. During sustained questioning, the accused confessed their crime. The accused persons were identified Mohd Gulsher resident of Village Gopalpur Tehsil and Distt Bijnor UP age 32 years, Vikas resident of village Simla Tehsil and Distt Bijnor UP age 27 years and Dilshad resident of Mohiuddinpur Tehsil and Distt. Bijnor UP. Further investigation is going on to ascertain the involvement of accused involved in other cases.
