SRINAGAR, Feb 26: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 85 new cases of COVID-19 following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 26,286; following a fresh death the death toll due to the virus reached 1,956.
Srinagar district reported 47 new cases including 22 travelers followed by Jammu district 12 cases, Baramulla district eight cases, Pulwama and Anantnag districts three cases each, Kupwara, Bandipora, Shopian and Kishtwar districts two cases each and a case each in Budgam, Ganderbal, Udhampur and Kathua districts. Budgam district reported a fresh virus related death.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 85 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 16 from Jammu division and 69 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,286. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 101 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 25 from Jammu division and 76 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,286 positive cases, 803 are active positive, 1, 23,527 have recovered and 1,956 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1,231 in Kashmir division.
Out of 51, 47,460 test results available, 50, 21,174 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 12, 98,407 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,061 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 803 in isolation and 1, 08,470 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 53,117 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,947 positive cases, 344 active positive, 26,142 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,245 positive cases, 79 active positive, 7,991 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,877 positive cases, 37 active positive, 7,720 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,852 positive cases, 44 active positive, 5,718 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,683 positive cases, 12 active positive, 5,575 recovered, 96 deaths.
“Anantnag has 5,008 positive cases, 37 active positive, 4,885 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,716 positive cases, 18 active positive, 4,636 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,668 positive cases, 15 active positive, 4,606 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,727 positive cases, 15 active positive, 2,658 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,605 positive cases, 18 active positive, 2,547 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,206 positive cases, 99 active positive, 24,734 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,302 positive cases, 59 active positive, 4,186 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, three active positive, 3,818 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,437 positive cases, one active positive, 3,372 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,259 positive cases, three active positive, 3,203 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,839 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,792 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, five active positive, 2,711 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,489 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1630 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,286 positive cases in J&K, 12,271 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
