Early Times Report
jammu, Feb 26: The people living along Indo-Pak border known as International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) in UT of J&K heaved a sigh of relief with DGMOs of two countries signing ceasefire agreement.
The agreement has brought cheers on the faces of lakhs of border people right from Kathua district in Jammu region and Gurez in Bandipira district of Kasmir Valley who feel the agreement has created a ray of hope for them that there will be a permanant ceasefire on borders and hostilities between two neighbouring countries will end for everlasting peace in the Sub- Continent.
The border people hope that both Governments will further work for ending the hostilities and finding the amicable solution to the problem surfacing since 1947 after the formation of Pakistan.
"We are hopeful that both countries will work for promotion of peace and end hostilities as no one wins in the war and it is the humanity which suffers", said Prem Nath an octogenarian living in a border village of Hiranagar Sector. He said these are people of border who know how much they suffered during last over 70 years due to hostilities between India and Pakistan. But not caring for the losses of our own people and damage to our property we remained shoulder to shoulder in every war to thwart the designs of enemy", he added.
He said during last over 30 years of hostilities with Pakistan the border people did not give in but remained solidly with our brave soldiers to defeat the designs of the enemy.
Same are the views of Ayub Hakla a Gujjar from border belt of Mendhar in Poonch. He said the death and destruction will end with the ceasefire agreement as thousands of people have become homeless and many previous lives were lost over the years over the years.
He said "We pray God for peace as it is we who had to bear the brunt of ceasefire violations and have to leave our houses every time in the event of shelling from across the border."
"Our land has become barren as we could not cultivate it for decades together due to shelling from across. We have been out to human as well as economic loss and we due many times every day faring worst due to shelling from across the border", he added.
Substantiating his views Rano Devi a border villager in Kalal area of Sunderbani Sector said with the announcement of ceasefire border people have got a lease of life. "We pray God for prevalence of peace on borders and end of hostilities on borders".
