COVID-19 positive cases in JK reach 126504 following 63 new cases; one fresh death

SRINAGAR, Mar 1: The positive cases of COVID-19 reached 1, 26,504 in Jammu & Kashmir after 63 new cases of the virus came to the fore today. The death toll reached 1,958 as one death was reported from Kashmir valley in the past 24 hours or so.
Srinagar district reported 18 fresh cases including 10 travelers followed by Anantnag district 11 cases, Baramulla and Jammu districts seven cases each, Pulwama district six cases, Budgam district four cases, Kupwara district three cases, Ganderbal and Kulgam districts two cases each and Bandipora, Udhampur & Kathua districts one case each. Anantnag district reported a fresh virus related death.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 63 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), nine from Jammu division and 54 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,504. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 56 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 18 from Jammu division and 38 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,504 positive cases, 829 are active positive, 1, 23,717 have recovered and 1,958 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1,233 in Kashmir division.
Out of 52, 26,361 test results available, 50, 99,857 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 17,942 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 33,583 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 829 in isolation and 1, 09,000 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 72,572 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,037 positive cases, 342 active positive, 26,234 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,267 positive cases, 90 active positive, 8,002 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,885 positive cases, 30 active positive, 7,735 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,863 positive cases, 36 active positive, 5,737 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,689 positive cases, 15 active positive, 5,577 recovered, 97 deaths.
“Anantnag has 5,029 positive cases, 41 active positive, 4,901 recovered, 87 deaths; Bandipora has 4,719 positive cases, 20 active positive, 4,637 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,672 positive cases, 16 active positive, 4,609 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,733 positive cases, 20 active positive, 2,659 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,608 positive cases, 21 active positive, 2,547 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,235 positive cases, 117 active positive, 24,745 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,314 positive cases, 58 active positive, 4,199 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, one active positive, 3,820 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,438 positive cases, two active positive, 3,372 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,261 positive cases, five active positive, 3,203 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,839 positive cases, five active positive, 2,794 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, five active positive, 2,711 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, five active positive, 2,491 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1630 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,504 positive cases in J&K, 12,351 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
