jammu, Mar 1: Lackadaisical attitude of Higher Education Department could be gauged from the fact that it forwarded posts of Assistant Professors and Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) to Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) without finalization of the recruitment rules.
According to sources, the Higher Education Department had forwarded 344 posts of Assistant Professors and Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) to JKPSC. The forwarding of posts had generated a hope among the highly qualified aspirants that some of them would be absorbed but the JKPSC is not going to make recruitments anytime soon as the Higher Education Department has asked them to withhold the process in a letter forwarded to the Commission.
"The Higher Education department is in the process of finalization of Gazetted Recruitment Rules which are based on UGC guidelines issued on 18/7/2018 and are at final stage, wherein among other issues, change in nomenclature of PTIs is also proposed", the letter reads, adding, "Since the posts are to be recruited as per the fresh guidelines notified by the UGC, hence you are requested to withhold the selection process till fresh recruitment rules of posts are recasted afresh."
Criticizing the Higher Education Department, an official said, "If the rules were not finalized, then why were the posts forwarded to the JKPSC? It creates an impression that the Commission is delaying the selection process but in real sense the fault lies with the department, which forwards the posts but not the recruitment rules", the official said.
