Civil servants dictate terms in political matters in Naya Kashmir, alleges Mehbooba
3/1/2021 11:38:48 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Srinagar, Mar 1: Alleging that civil servants are ruling the state in political matters in ‘Naya Kashmir’, former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said they are clearly prejudiced.
“When PDP sought permission for a workers convention in Pulwama, and there were certain conditions laid down by district administration,” Ms Mehbooba wrote on micro-blogging site twitter. She also posted the copy of the order which had eight instructions to be followed by her organization.
“In Naya Kashmir, civil servants dictate terms in political matters & are clearly prejudiced. Many workers weren’t allowed to enter the venue either,” she wrote.
Mehbooba had highlighted five instructions; including restricting the number of participants in the event to 150 as per the capacity of the location and no use of loudspeakers or taking out march was permitted.
The other instructions said the members should not be part of any unlawful activity or cause breach of law and order, damag should not be done to government or public property, and a party worker should be kept at the entry to identity the participants.
Mehbooba, during her address on Sunday at the workers convention in Pulwama, advocated for an unrelenting peaceful struggle for the restoration of democratic and constitutional rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Apart from robbing us of our constitutional rights we have witnessed the loot of our resources and our economy being crushed.
The Horticulture sector which forms the backbone of our economy has not been spared either. By allowing apple produce from Iran to flood the market & our own crop destroyed by supply of spurious pesticides, the nefarious designs are being implemented.
This also seems to be a part of the scripted scheme to pulverize our economy. The need is to stand up in unison and struggle for our rights, identity and the future of our coming generations,” she said.
Thanking the party workers for their unflinching support to the party she lauded their efforts that culminated in a robust win for the party in the recently concluded DDC elections in the district.
“Pulwama is the heartbeat of PDP and your unwavering support is the source of personal strength to me. And my first visit to your district after being re-elected as the party president is a reaffirmation of my love for you,” she said.
