Arrest of JeM terrorist from Kunjwani: NIA takes over investigation

JAMMU, Mar 2: The NIA on Tuesday formally registered a case regarding arrest of dreaded terrorist of Lashkar-e-Mustafa (LeM) Hidayat Ullah Malik who was arrested by Jammu Police on February 6 from Kunjwani area in the outskirts of the city.
NIA registered case relating to conspiracy by frontal running terror organization LeM working at the behest of proscribed terrorist organization to carry out terrorist activities in Jammu area with the aim of threatening the sovereignty, integrity and security of India.
"The case was initially registered as FIR number 16/2021 of Gangyal Police station, District Jammu on 06.02.2021 under section 18, 20 of Unlawful activities prevention act. NIA has re-registered this case as RC-01/2021/NIA/JMU on 02.03.2021 and has taken over the investigation", official sources said.
Malik had done reconnaissance of many security installations in Jammu and Delhi in 2018 and 2019 for carrying out terror attacks. He has been associated with other terror groups in the past and has furthered subversive and terror activities in Kashmir valley. The terror group had also committed a daylight Bank robbery in which to Sixty (60) Lakh Rupees were looted from JK Bank, Main Branch Shopian in November 2020.
He was caught alive in a daring operation by the joint teams of Jammu and Anantnag police in the general area of Kunjwani on Saturday afternoon.
The terrorist, claiming to be the Chief of the newly launched terrorist outfit, was moving in a private car when he was tracked down by the police teams near Vishal Mega Mart in Kunjwani area on the outskirts of Jammu.
