Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 2: The distribution of COVID-19 safety kits by some officers of Jammu and Kashmir police, appeared to be a photo-opportunity for media consumption as the police personnel could be found violating the health advisories during these functions.
In a latest incident, a police team of Police Station in district Samba claimed to have distributed Covid-19 safety kits among 15 Below Poverty Line (BPL) families of border areas, under the Civil Action Programme.
Each COVID-19 safety kit, was equipped with Nebulizer, Pulse-Oximeter, Digital Thermometer, Face Shield, Face Masks (N-95), Alcohol based Hand Sanitizers, Hand Gloves, PPE Kit, Bathing Soaps, bottles of Liquid Hand Wash & a Kit bag, the press released updated on the official Facebook page of Samba police reads, adding, "the beneficiaries were also briefed properly on how to use the kit items". However as per the updated photograph, the officer distributing the safety kits as well as other police officials, standing just behind the officer as well as other employees had not even worn the face-masks, which they had been appealing the people to wear. "Similar activities of Police could be found in various districts, where police officials had been found distributing safety kits but were not following the guidelines themselves as if the infection would be unable to catch the police", a local said, adding that even the Prime Minister has been emphasizing on the need to follow health advisories and would always found to be following the health advisories but the act of these police officials, exposes the hollowness of the campaigns, launched by them.
