Srinagar continues to be COVID-19 hot spot in JK; district reports 48 cases out of 85 new cases

SRINAGAR, Mar 2: Srinagar district in the Kashmir valley continues to be COVID-19 hot spot in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir with the district today reporting more than 50 percent of 85 positive cases. Following fresh cases the total number of positive cases reached 1, 26,589.
Srinagar district reported 48 cases including 22 travelers followed by Jammu district 10 cases, Budgam district seven cases, Pulwama district six cases, Baramulla district five cases, Anantnag district four cases, Kulgam district three cases and Udhampur & Samba districts one case each. No case was reported from Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban, Reasi, Kupwara, Ganderbal and Shopian districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 85 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 12 from Jammu division and 73 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,589.
Moreover, 94 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 25 from Jammu division and 69 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,589 positive cases, 820 are active positive, 1, 23,811 have recovered and 1,958 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1,233 in Kashmir division.
Out of 52, 53,071 test results available, 51, 26,482 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 25,778 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 33,525 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 820 in isolation and 1, 09,500 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 79,975 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,085 positive cases, 356 active positive, 26,268 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,272 positive cases, 81 active positive, 8,016 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,892 positive cases, 34 active positive, 7,738 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,869 positive cases, 41 active positive, 5,738 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,689 positive cases, 15 active positive, 5,577 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,033 positive cases, 41 active positive, 4,905 recovered, 87 deaths; Bandipora has 4,719 positive cases, 20 active positive, 4,637 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,672 positive cases, 13 active positive, 4,612 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,736 positive cases, 20 active positive, 2,662 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,608 positive cases, 14 active positive, 2,554 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,245 positive cases, 109 active positive, 24,763 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,315 positive cases, 56 active positive, 4,202 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, one active positive, 3,820 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,438 positive cases, two active positive, 3,372 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,261 positive cases, four active positive, 3,204 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,840 positive cases, six active positive, 2,794 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, five active positive, 2,711 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, two active positive, 2,494 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,589 positive cases in J&K, 12,380 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
