Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 2: Although the theft cases of vehicles especially two wheelers have increased manifold in Jammu but delay in tracing out the stolen vehicles by the concerned police has dampened the spirit of the common man, who had been continuously making frequent visits to the police station to inquire about progress in their cases. In one such case of scooty theft at vegetable Mandi Narwal, which took place nearly two months ago in presence of crowd but despite lodging complaint with the concerned police station Narwal, no progress has been seen till date. As per complainant’s account namely Raghav Ram, he had gone to Fruit and Vegetable Market Narwal for buying vegetables for his eatery stall early in morning on 7-1-2021 on his scooty (Maestro White) bearing registration number JK02BF-9167. He further said that he had parked his scooty outside the mandi gate where other vehicles were also parked at 6 am but when he returned after purchasing vegetables, he didn’t find his scooty as the same was stolen. There was a total crowd outside the mandi area from where the scooty was stolen. Although many people particularly some shopkeepers admitted that they saw a person taking his scooty. After the incident, he went to concerned police Narwal to lodge a complaint but after a lot of efforts, their complaint was registered but it has been more than two months, police could not find out the stolen scooty even after so many days. Interestingly, the area where theft took place was under CCTV surveillance but yet police could not figure out the thief. When Early Times contacted the SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil, he assured that the scooty theft case will be resolved at the earliest
