Inter-college online poster making competition organised

Akhnoor, Mar 3: NSS Unit of Govt Degree College Akhnoor, Jammu organised inter-college online poster making competition on the occasion of World Wildlife Day 2021 on the theme “Forests and Livelihoods:Sustained people and planet “ under the able guidance of Dr Namarta,principal of the college. The competition was organised by Dr. Sanjay kapoor (Assistant professor chemistry), NSS programme officer of the college.
World Wildlife Day is observed to celebrate and raise awareness of the world's wild animals and plants and discussing the threats they are facing and urgent need for governments, civil society, private sector and individuals to add their voices and take actions to help to conserve wildlife and ensure its continued use is sustainable. The day also highlights the issues such as Urbanization, Poaching, Pollution, Destruction of wildlife habitats and the ways that humans can contribute to conservation efforts. Students from various colleges participated in the event. The participants were adjudged by DR. Meenakshi Bandral (Associate professor Zoology), GCW Gandhinagar and Dr Pinki Mahnas (Assistant professor Environmental Sciences), GDC Paloura(Mishriwala).
The first position was bagged by Miss Gagandeep kaur of GCW Gandhi Nagar, the second by Rakshit Bhal of GDC Paloura and the third by Preeti Sharma of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur respectively.
Dr Namarta, Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of NSS Unit for organising such an event on digital platform during COVID period. She also thanked the adjudicators of the competition for sparing their valuable time.
