SRINAGAR, Mar 3: While the Jammu division continues to show significant improvement in COVID-19 management, the Kashmir valley on the other side has been witnessing a spike in the cases. The union territory reported 104 fresh cases following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 26,693.
Srinagar district reported 53 fresh cases of Corona Virus including 18 travelers followed by Baramulla district 12 cases, Jammu district 11 cases, Anantnag district seven cases, Budgam district five cases, Pulwama and Kulgam districts three cases each, Kupwara, Kathua and Reasi districts two cases each and a case each in Ganderbal, Shopian, Udhampur and Samba districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 104 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 17 from Jammu division and 87 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,693.
Moreover, 49 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 13 from Jammu division and 36 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,693 positive cases, 875 are active positive, 1, 23,860 have recovered and 1,958 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1,233 in Kashmir division.
Out of 52, 81,141 test results available, 51, 54,448 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 33,582 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 32,838 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 875 in isolation and 1, 10,168 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 87,743 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,138 positive cases, 395 active positive, 26,282 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,284 positive cases, 83 active positive, 8,026 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,897 positive cases, 36 active positive, 7,741 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,872 positive cases, 44 active positive, 5,738 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,691 positive cases, 13 active positive, 5,581 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,040 positive cases, 45 active positive, 4,908 recovered, 87 deaths; Bandipora has 4,719 positive cases, 19 active positive, 4,638 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,673 positive cases, 13 active positive, 4,613 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,739 positive cases, 23 active positive, 2,662 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,609 positive cases, 15 active positive, 2,554 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,256 positive cases, 109 active positive, 24,774 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,316 positive cases, 57 active positive, 4,202 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, 3,821 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,438 positive cases, two active positive, 3,372 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,263 positive cases, six active positive, 3,204 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,841 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,794 recovered, 40deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, four active positive, 2,712 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, two active positive, 2,494 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,648 positive cases, two active positive, 1,630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,693 positive cases in J&K, 12,417 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
