Early Times Report

Udhampur, Mar 3: A Block Development Officer (BDO) is withdrawing Housing Rent Allowance (HRA) while staying at government provided accommodation. Sources said that BDO Ram Nagar, Pritam Kumar Sharma is drawing HRA while staying at government quarters in Ram Nagar.
When contacted, the BDO said that he lives in a private rented accommodation and the government quarters in talks are occupied by the watchman of his department. However, sources revealed that the watchman too was a local of Ram Nagar and still he was occupying government accommodation, but the BDO has misled when asked about address of his private rented accommodation. Sources said the BDO is staying at government accommodation.
It is pertinent to mention here that few years back the same BDO was in news with his video going viral when he used vulgar language while disseminating awareness against open defecation to women at tehsil Majalta under Swachch Bharat Mission.
Sources urged Deputy Commissioner Udhampur as well as higher authorities of concerned authority to look into the matter and take action against erring officer who misused the power for his personal benefits illegally and siphoning off govt ex-chequer. When contacted ADDC Udhampur said that he will look into the matter and strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
