Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 3: A day after a faction of J&K Congress held a demonstration against the ex-leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday launched a counter offensive to defend their leader.
While as ex-MLC Subash Gupta organized a pro-Azad protest at Hiranagar, former MLA Akram Choudhary along with Jahangir Mir launched a counter offensive against Shahnawaz Choudhary for his ‘irresponsible utterance’ against ex-chief minister.
“At which capacity Shahnawaz Choudhary is holding protest against Ghulam Nabi Azad as Congress worker?, asked Akram Choudhary, ex-MLA of Surankote, adding, “Shahnawaz had contested District Development Council (DDC) election against Congress candidate”. He said that the matter of expelling all rebel candidates was under consideration of
Two Mir loyalists meet Azad secretly
Two senior Congress leaders, who owe their allegiance with PCC chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir, secretly met Ghulam Nabi Azad to keep the party stalwart in good humour.
Reliable sources two known loyalists of Mir secretary met Azad to assure him that they are with him. “Instead of meeting Azad openly, the duo decided to meet the former chief minister secretly”, sources said and added that many loyalists of Mir were already in-touch with the supporters of Azad.
he party leadership.
Akram Choudhary, son of former PCC president late Mohammad Aslam Choudhary minced no words in attacking Shahnawaz for trying to undermine the role of Azad. “Those who are talking about strengthening Congress had themselves revolted against the party during the DDC election”, he said and demanded strict action against Shahnawaz for openly criticizing a senior leader like Azad.
Akram Choudhary and Shahnawaz Choudhary are arch political rivals in Surankote assembly constituency of Poonch district. Akram is a hardcore supporter of Azad.
Former Deputy Chairperson of J&K Legislative Council, Jahangir Mir strongly defended Azad’s statements during his three-day stay at Jammu. “Being a statesman Azad has only praised the good qualities of the Prime Minister and there is nothing wrong in it”, he said.
