SHD organizes awareness camp for sheep breeders

RAMBAN, Mar 4: Sheep Husbandry Department, Ramban, today organized an awareness camp at Ukhral on employment schemes being implemented for Sheep and Goat breeders across the district.
During the camp resource persons gave a brief resume of developmental activities in which more than 65 Sheep breeders, locals besides PRIs were participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion District Sheep Husbandry Officer Dr Vikas Gupta stressed on breeders to avail the benefits of latest technology used in sheep rearing.
He suggested the breeders make use of latest technology and rear genetically improved cross breeds to start sheep farming as a viable income generating option.
During the camp 40 polypropylene sheets under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yogna were distributed among the needy breeders for temporary shelter sheds for their livestock.
Resource persons including Dr Khan Idrees Mohd and Dr Safier Ahmed Ganaie, Veterinary Assistant Surgeons gave a detailed presentation about various disease found in sheep and the measures to be taken to prevent these diseases besides explaining a detailed schedule of vaccination and dosing.
They also said that FMD vaccination programme to be conducted shortly under National Animal Disease Control Programme.
