SRINAGAR, Mar 4: The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1, 26,772 as 79 new cases came to the fore today. The death toll reached 1,959 following a fresh death from the Kashmir valley.
Srinagar district reported 47 new cases including 11 travelers followed by Jammu district 12 cases, Baramulla district six cases, Budgam district five cases, Pulwama district three cases, Kathua district two cases and a case each in Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kulgam & Shopian districts. Anantnag district reported a fresh virus related death.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 79 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 14 from Jammu division and 65 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,772. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 70 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including nine from Jammu division and 61 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,772 positive cases, 883 are active positive, 1, 23,930 have recovered and 1,959 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1,234 in Kashmir division.
Out of 53, 09,652 test results available, 51, 82,880 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 42,716 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 32,742 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 883 in isolation and 1, 10,761 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 96,371 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,185 positive cases, 405 active positive, 26,319 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,290 positive cases, 78 active positive, 8,037 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,902 positive cases, 36 active positive, 7,746 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,875 positive cases, 47 active positive, 5,738 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,691 positive cases, 13 active positive, 5,581 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,041 positive cases, 38 active positive, 4,915 recovered, 88 deaths; Bandipora has 4,719 positive cases, 19 active positive, 4,638 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,674 positive cases, 13 active positive, 4,614 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,740 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,662 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,610 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,554 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,268 positive cases, 115 active positive, 24,780 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,316 positive cases, 56 active positive, 4,203 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, 3821 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,438 positive cases, two active positive, 3,372 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,265 positive cases, six active positive, 3,206 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,841 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,794 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, four active positive, 2,712 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, two active positive, 2,494 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,648 positive cases, two active positive, 1,630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,772 positive cases in J&K, 12,436 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
