Vaccination Only Way Out
3/4/2021 11:51:19 PM
The COVID-19 vaccination drive being thrown open for the general public in Jammu and Kashmir has generated hope that pandemic will be over soon.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Kumar Sinha taking the COVID-19 jab has set the ball rolling. He has led from the front to dispel the rumours that the vaccines are not safe.
People are hoping that their wait doesn’t prolong and the COVID-19 vaccines become available in the open market soon. The experts have made it clear that getting vaccinated is the only way to defeat the pandemic and the inoculation drive would pave the wave for people developing herd immunity. The herd immunity cannot be developed till 80% of the population develops antibodies against the virus.
The experts have already sounded an alarm about the COVID-19 virus being mutated. It means that people even after getting vaccinated can catch COVID-19 but the vaccination will help people fight the virus more effectively.
The vaccination drive has commenced, so people need to gear up and not pay heed towards rumours. Defeating COVID-19 virus is still a long drawn battle as the various may keep on changing its colour.
People, who have been vaccinated till date, have complained about mild side effects and no major issues have been reported.
The government should expedite the pace of the inoculation drive to ensure that common people get their doses in time. For the past one year people have faced immense hardships and want life to return to normal.
The normalcy cannot be achieved till the huge chunk of population is administered the doses of COVID vaccines.
The government has capped the price of the COVID-19 vaccines and in coming days these jabs will be available in the private hospitals. One hopes that the private players follow the government guidelines and help the people overcome fear.
The administration needs to set up more vaccination centres so that people don’t have to wander from one place to another. Till now, the JK administration has fought the COVID valiantly. In the last phase the responsibility of the government has increased manifolds. In this decisive phase a lot needs to be done to make people feel secure and comfortable. Till date vaccines were confined to health workers and others, now these have been brought into public domain. The helmsmen should ensure that there is no confusion and the drive goes on smoothly.
