SRINAGAR, Mar 6: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 79 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 26,932. With a death being reported from Jammu division the death toll due to the virus reached 1961.
Srinagar district reported 35 fresh cases of COVID-19 including 11 travelers followed by Jammu district 16 cases, Baramulla district nine cases, Pulwama and Anantnag districts five cases each, Budgam district four cases and Kupwara, Ganderbal, Shopian, Kathua & Poonch districts one case each. A death was reported from Jammu district in the Jammu division.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 79 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 18 from Jammu division and 61 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,932. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Jammu division.
Moreover, 87 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 11 from Jammu division and 76 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,932 positive cases, 882 are active positive, 1, 24,089 have recovered and 1,961 have died; 727 in Jammu division and 1,234 in Kashmir division.
Out of 53, 63,489 test results available, 52, 36,557 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 52,162 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 32,269 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 882 in isolation and 11,175 in home surveillance. Besides, 12, 05,275 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,255 positive cases, 421 active positive, 26,373 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,308 positive cases, 71 active positive, 8,062 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,914 positive cases, 39 active positive, 7,755 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,881 positive cases, 48 active positive, 5,743 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,692 positive cases, 10 active positive, 5,585 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,049 positive cases, 37 active positive, 4,924 recovered, 88 deaths; Bandipora has 4,720 positive cases, 17 active positive, 4,641 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,677 positive cases, 13 active positive, 4,617 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,742 positive cases, 21 active positive, 2,667 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,611 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,554 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,298 positive cases, 116 active positive, 24,807 recovered, 375 deaths; Udhampur has 4,318 positive cases, 49 active positive, 4,212 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, 3,821 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,438 positive cases, 3,374 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,266 positive cases, seven active positive, 3,206 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,841 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,794 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, two active positive, 2,714 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,525 positive cases, five active positive, 2,496 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,648 positive cases, two active positive, 1,630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,932 positive cases in J&K, 12,475 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
