EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Mar 7: A public meeting cum protest demonstration against fuel hike by District Congress Committee (DCC) Kathua turned out to be an embarrassing moment for the party when captions underneath the photographs of senior party leaders on a wall-poster were wrongly identified.
Even the name of Sonia Gandhi Party president was not correctly written, while Rahul Gandhi was identified with the name of Ambika Soni, while Priyanka Gandhi was captioned as GA Mir, while there were some other mistakes too.
According to photographs in circulation on social media sites, the District Congress Committee Kathua had organized a public meeting cum, protest against fuel hike at Dhani Bhakta on Sunday.
At the venue of the meeting, a wall-poster was hanging on which theme of protest was written as “Protest Against Hike the Price of Petrol, Diesel and LPG Gas”. The wall-poster had photographs of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad and President District Congress Committee Kathua Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma. However, some participants noticed blunders committed by the DCC, during the printing of the poster as names underneath the photos was total blunder. AICC president Sonia Gandhi was written as Sonia Soni, photograph of Rahul Gandhi was captioned as Ambika Soni, General Secretary AICC, Priyanka Gandhi was referred as GA Mir President JKPCC.
Moreover Ghulam Nabi Azad was captioned correctly by the name but despite his retirement from Rajya Sabha, he was mentioned as still the Leader of Opposition and the only correct caption was of Dr Manohar Lal Sharma whose designation was written as President District Congress Committee Kathua.
The blunder committed during the printing of the poster was noticed by someone, who informed the party leadership and to save embarrassment, the photo-captions were rectified with handmade slips pasted over the incorrect names and designations.
“Though one mistake in spelling of the names can be called a typo error but wrong captions of all names was a blunder or a deliberate error committed by someone to corner the party.
The blunder can be symptomatic of the weak party structure of the Congress party, which has scarcity of dedicated party cadre, who can handle various aspects of the party”, a politician said, adding that Congress should seriously think over the party structure, if it wanted to be a good opposition party, leave aside dreaming of coming to power.
