Rohit Shastri appeals Thakur to include Sanskrit language in theatre | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 23: President Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansathan, Mahant Rohit Shastri met Director, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Johannesburg (South Africa) and director (Designate) in Indira Gandhi Centre of Indian Culture, Port Louis (Mauritius), Balwant Thakur here today at Natrang Studio Theatre. During the meeting, Mahant said to include Sanskrit language in theatres in a similar way like Dogri and to promote Sanskrit language through theatre artists. From this platform of drama in theatre, many Sanskrit lovers get an opportunity to perform and get some money for their livelihood. Mahant Rohit Shastri said Devvani Sanskrit is the mother of all languages, and the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir has contributed significantly to Sanskrit Language and literature. This sacred land has produced many renowned Sanskrit poets and scholars including Abhinav Gupta, Kalhana, Bilhana etc. He said, "But it pains me to say that the tradition of Sanskrit has been dying a certain death due to apathy, and even antagonism of the powers that were at the helm of affairs in the state till recently. The students pursuing their further studies in Sanskrit language and aspiring to have their career in this field are suffering a lot due to an appalling dearth of educational facilities and career opportunities in Sanskrit."
