Rhetoric Days Over | | | Kashmir centric leaders, who were looking towards Pakistan and China, to take on New Delhi after the abrogation of Article 370 have been left with nothing to fallback upon as China and India have disengaged in Ladakh and Pakistan is talking about burying the past and moving ahead. Soon after the Kashmir centric leaders were released from detention last year, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah stated that Chinese intervention can lead to restoration of Article 370, while president of Peoples Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti, stated that she won’t hold the tricolor till J&K get its state flag back. History stands testimony to the fact that Kashmir centric leaders since 1947 thrived by creating confusions and claiming that Kashmir is a problem that needs to be resolved. In Delhi they used to talk in one language and in Kashmir they used to speak in an entirely different tone. After August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and bifurcated it into two union territories—all these confusions have been cleared and these leaders have been left with nothing to sell. Prior to August 5, 2019, these leaders used to threaten that if J&K’s special status is fiddled with, J&K will burn. But all their predictions have fallen flat as people didn’t react. The J&K’s transition from a State into a union territory has been smooth. Since the day J&K has started functioning as a union territory the change has been visible. China and Pakistan too seem to have realized that it’s not possible to intimidate the leadership of “New India” as Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is a strong leader and he is firm on his resolve. The government led by PM Modi bit the bullet of Article 370 and after that handled the situation in a very practical manner. Despite China opening the front in Eastern Ladakh and Pakistan sending in more and more militants into Jammu and Kashmir after August 5, 2019, India didn’t succumb under pressure. The hostile neighbours have understood that the India won’t budge and they cannot afford to go for a war and remaining in peace is the only way out. Kashmir centric leaders should stop poking their nose in the foreign policy of the country. Their rhetoric of Kashmir being a problem and external forces will resolve it stands punctured. Either they should take retirement from Kashmir politics or fall in the line. |
