DLSA hosts Legal Awareness Camp

REASI, Mar 27: District Legal Services Authority Reasi in collaboration with the Labour Department, today organized a one day legal awareness camp for unorganized sector workers, here at Geeta Nagar.
The awareness camp was aimed at educating labourers about labour laws, Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, (BOCWWB) schemes, procedure of applying for various schemes and availing benefits for social security etc.
Anjum Ara, (Sub-Judge), Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Reasi was the chief-guest on the occasion, while Pradyot Gupta, Assistant Labour Commissioner Reasi presided over the programme.
In the programme, workers were registered on spot for BOCWWB schemes and registration cards were distributed among them.
An amount of Rs. 26,237 as medical benefits for treatment of Chronic diseases was also disbursed among workers on the spot.
Speaking on the occasion, Anjum Ara, Secretary, DLSA Reasi appealed to all the construction workers associated with private construction agencies to get themselves enrolled and avail various benefits being provided by the Labour Department for their welfare. She appreciated the working of Labour Department Reasi for the welfare of the most vulnerable segment of the second largest unorganized labour sector.
M.R. Salalia, President of the unorganized construction and other allied workers union, Reasi also spoke on the occasion. Karan Singh, General Secretary of the Union conducted the proceedings of the programme.
