Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 27: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reportedly taken action against the erring officer who allegedly tortured a youth of Simbal Camp area, during his custody in an alleged drug trafficking case under investigation by the agency.
An officer of DySP rank of NIA, who allegedly tortured the youth during questioning in a drug trafficking case, has been attached and shifted to Nagaland, reliable sources told Early Times. However, officially no statement in this connection has been issued by the agency.
Sources said that NIA earlier summoned the youth twice, but this time he was mercilessly beaten by the Officer.
“The investigation of a drug case, recovery of 60kg heroin from R S Pura, taken by the NIA from R S Pura Police.
During the investigation a number of the youth surfaced in calls details of drug dealers”, sources informed and added that on basis of call details the youth was summoned by NIA for investigation.
Meanwhile, the family members of the youth said, “If he has committed any crime, why was he freed by NIA.”
“I have participated in many anti-militancy operations and neutralised many militants. I would have killed him, if he had committed something against the nation”, said, Sevak Singh, retired SSP, maternal uncle of the youth.
“He is not in the position of walking on his own, he has injury marks on both legs, thighs, on his back and his arms. He was brutally trashed by the mentally sick officer”, Sevak Singh said, and added that they would knock the door of court for justice with poor youth who underwent brutality without any reason.
SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli when contacted said that Police are investigating the matter and no case has been registered yet. “A complaint has been received and Police are investigating the matter but no FIR has been registered yet”, he added.
