Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Apr 3: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, today chaired a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to discuss and finalize strategy regarding Covid-19 containment in the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Harbans Lal; Additional Superintendent of Police, Rajni Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dhirendra Sharma; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mohammad Farid Bhat; Medical Superintendent, D. H. Ramban, Dr. Hamid Zargar and several other members of the DDMA attended the meeting.
Briefing the meeting on steps taken to keep Covid-19 infection under control, the CMO said that RT-PCR testing and covid vaccination has been ramped up in the district. He said there are 24 active cases at present in the district and steps have been taken to trace contacts to prevent the infection from spreading. "Posters outside the houses of Covid + patients are pasted to create awareness among general public also," he told the meeting.
The meeting was informed that on an average over the last three days, against a target of 200, District Ramban is testing 257 persons for RT-PCR. Similarly, for Covid vaccination, the number of people vaccinated in the last two days has gone up from an average of 434 to around 1300 per day.
The meeting decided to supplement the Health Department's reach by deputing mobile teams which shall help in expeditious testing, vaccination and public awareness for keeping Covid infection under control. In view of South Portal of Jawahar Tunnel having been declared as Red Zone, the meeting decided to undertake random testing of travellers and drivers to detect any possible Covid+ case. For this, CMO Ramban was directed to deploy a team.
The meeting was informed that adequate measures have been taken to enforce orders on mandatory wearing of face masks, washing of hands and strict adherence to maintaining physical distance. The cooperation of all elected public representatives is being sought in motivating people for Covid vaccination in now reduced age-appropriate category. District and Sub-Divisional administrations have undertaken several face- mask wearing drives in all major towns and public places to impress upon the people the importance of following Covid protocols. Fines have also been realized from people who have violated Covid protocols.
