Sikh organizations demand installation of Baba Banda's statue

JAMMU, Apr 7: Expressing anguish over delaying tactics of the government in installing statue of Baba Banda Singh ji Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk Jammu, various Sikh Organizations J&K said that the issue is lingering on despite several announcements made in this regard.
The issue was raised by the participants during a meeting of various Sikh Organizations J&K held under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh Chief Organizer Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and Ex-member District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee Jammu.
The members said that time and again it has been announced by the former Dy Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir Kavinder Gupta that a statue of Baba Banda Singh will be installed at Kunjwani Chowk jammu but nothing has been done so far.
The people of Jammu are still waiting for fulfillment of the promise made by then Dy Chief Minister, they added.
In the meeting various other issues confronting the Sikh community were also discussed. The members said that there is resentment among the Sikhs as the government only fooled the community and only false promises were made during the elections.
Darbinder Singh President Shiromani Akali Dal J&K Rajinder Singh General Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Raja Singh Sarpanch member DGPC Jammu, Ravinder Singh Sarpanch & General Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Charanjeet Singh retired SDM (Convener Punjabi Chetna Manch), Prof. Yudhvir Singh Corporator and several others were present in the meeting.
