Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Apr 7: The Cordon and Search Operation (CASO), launched by security forces on the Srinagar outskirts late Tuesday night, was called off 17 hours after no militant was found on Wednesday, official sources said this afternoon.
Firing shots heard from the area were just warning shots fired by security forces, they said adding but there was no response.
They said on a tip-off about the presence of militants at Zakura- Gulab Bagh, Srinagar, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint CASO late Tuesday night. All the roads leading to the area were closed and exit points sealed.
Additional security forces were deployed in the adjoining areas to maintain law and order.
However, this morning when security forces started searches they fired some warning shots in the air. After there was no response to the firing shots, security forces conducted house-to-house searches. However, no militant was found in the area, they said, adding the operation was later called off.
