Don’t panic, fight it out

As the second wave of COVID-19 has gripped the country, focus has shifted on expediting the vaccination campaign.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has asked all its employees above 45-years of age to get vaccinated. Even teachers and the non-teaching staff members in all the schools are to be vaccinated in coming days.
The virus getting mutated has evoked concern. Experts had sounded an alert about second wave long back. They had asked people to follow SOPs to keep the pestilence at bay. But the people got complacent after the first wave subsided. Still it’s not too late. Basic have to be followed to keep ourselves safe.
India on Wednesday reported 1,15,736 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day spike since the outbreak of the pandemic, pushing the tally to 1,28,01,785, according to the Union Health Ministry data. This is the second day when the cases have breached the 1-lakh mark as on Monday, the country had registered 1,03,558 cases.
Experts are of the opinion that vaccines only can lead to people developing herd immunity and fighting the virus. They are worried about the new variant that has led to surge in the Covid cases but most of them believe that vaccines can help in fighting the second wave.
Everyone above 45-years of age is eligible for vaccination and the number of people getting vaccinated is increasing with each passing day. But more and more people have to take these jabs to end the pandemic.
According to experts Covid cases will rise in coming days and we can witness yet another Covid in the ongoing month. As far as health infrastructure in Jammu is concerned everyone is aware of the fact that it cannot sustain a heavy rush. People need to take precautions to keep themselves safe.
A notion is being created that vaccines are not that effective but doctors have repeatedly said that even if a person catches Covid after getting vaccinated his survival chances are higher than the people who are without the COVID-19 jab.
The world has survived the first wave and many countries have also come out of the second wave. India too will come out of the new wave, but precautions are must. Resurgence of Covid cannot be taken lightly. It’s a concern and needs to be handled. One year ago when the pandemic broke out we were caught unaware but at present we are better equipped and we can fight the Covid in better. We need not panic.
