Director Health Kashmir disengages contractual employees hired during pandemic period

Srinagar, Apr 8: Director Health Services Kashmir today disengaged all the contractual appointees who were hired by the department in wake of extraordinary situation that had arisen due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
In a circular, Director Health Services Kashmir directed all the Chief Medical Officers (CMO), Medical Superintendents and other Territorial offices to ensure that no contractual employee is working at their respective districts from 1-4-2021.
“It is enjoined upon all the Chief Medical Officers/Medical Superintendents and other Territorial Offices falling within the jurisdiction of this Directorate that the employees both (Medical/Para Medical/Nursing Staff) hired by this Department on contractual basis in view of the extraordinary situation that had arisen due to the spread of Covid-19 Pandemic under different orders purely in pursuance to Govt. Order No.347-(K) HME of 2020 Dated: 28.03.2020 shall deem to have been disengaged from their contractual appointments and from their respective place of postings forthwith as the tenure of one year stands expired on 31.03.2021 till further orders are received from the higher authorities.” “All the Chief Medical Officers/Medical Superintendents and other Territorial Offices shall ensure that no contractual employee is working at their respective districts from 01.04.2021 and in the event of non-compliance of instructions, the concerned CMO/Medical Superintendent and other Territorial Offices will be responsible for litigation(s), if any, held thereafter,” the circular added.
Chief Medical Officer Anantnag Dr Mukhtar Ahmad confirmed to have disengaged all the contractual employees prior to issuance of the circular. “Yes, Director Health issued the orders today but we had already disengaged them on 31st of March and we didn’t allow them to continue as they (contractual employees) were hired for one year only,” he said.
