District Admin conducts anti encroachment drive in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Apr 8: In continuation to anti-encroachment drive initiated by District Administration Udhampur, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Indu Kanwal Chib along with President Municipal Council, Dr Jogeshwar Gupta and Councillors conducted anti-encroachment drive from Slathia Chowk to Jakhani area of Udhampur Town.
During the drive, the DC appealed to the shopkeepers and traders to remove merchandise displayed outside their shops as it is causing hindrance to pedestrians. She warned them that after 7 days the encroachments will be removed by the GREF Authorities.
“If any shopkeeper tries to repeat the practice of displaying goods illegally by extending parameters of their shops, action will be initiated against the violators under Municipal Act” she warned.
The DC advised the general public to park their vehicles inside the parking space to avoid traffic congestion in the market area in the larger public interest.
Instructions were issued to ARTO Udhampur to restrict the movement of heavy vehicles like trucks, Tippers, JCBs on the road during day time.
The DC further requested the general public to park their vehicles in the parking zones to avoid heavy vehicular traffic congestion on the Dhar road.
Among others, Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council, Sanjeev Gandotra; Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Jugal Kishore; Deputy Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, GREF Authorities and Tehsildar , Udhampur were accompanying the DC.
