Value Addition cum E-NAM registeration camp organised at Gurah Slathia

SAMBA, June 14: AGMO Office Samba, Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing Department today organized an awareness camp- Value Addition, Food Processing and E-NAM at Baba Academy W No. 5, Gurah Slathia Vijaypur Samba, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba.
Apart from Sh. Sudershan Slathia Member District Development Council, Smt. Sonia Slathia Sarpanch Gurah, AGMO Samba Anuj Kumar Verma, Senior Scientist from KVK Samba Dr. Neerja Sharma, Dr. Shalini, Rakesh Sharma Marketing Inspector Samba were prominent among those present on the occasion. AGMO Samba asked farmers/ growers to go for multi croping and Indian Traditional Integrated Farming system of Agriculture to enhance their income vertically. They should sow exotic and other such crops as have good demand in the markets. Cropping patterns should be as consumers’ preferences. AGMO Samba further asked growers to form small rural processing groups to add value to produce like mangoes, mushroom, Amla, Citrus etc. for which Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing Department is committed to set up & provide sufficient marketing linkages under dynamic leadership of Sh. Navin Chowdhury Principal Secretary Horticulture and Sh. Vishesh Mahajan JKAS Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing.
Dr Neerja Sharma discussed methods of processing of mangoes to prepare amchur, ampanna, Khatti Mitti Chuttney and mango pickle for commercial purposes. Dr. Neerja exhorted upon rural youth and ladies to take full benefits of support being provided by the Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing and KVK Samba to economically empower themselves by preparing and processing products like pickles, ampanna, mango Chuttney, amchur, Amla candies, murabba, juice, kanak, rice flour, maize flour, curry leaves powder, lemon candies packed in latest packaging material for commercial purposes. This’ll not only raise their living standards but also shall give an identity to local products.
