Mayor, others conduct tour of Akhnoor road, Shakti Nagar area

Jammu, June 16: Continuing his drive to provide better development & civic amenities to the citizens of Jammu Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith Surinder Chowdhary Councillor of wad no. 29, Avny Lavasa Commissioner JMC, Koushal Kumar SSP Traffic Jammu, Madam Shivali Kotwal DySP Traffic, Rajesh Bhagat Executive Engineer (PWD) conducted an extensive tour on 16/06/2021 of Shakti Nagar area near Akhnoor Road & its adjoining areas and took stock of the frequent traffic congestion especially near Pawan Ice Cream Corner Chowk and its leading roads.
Due to which a long queue of vehicles remain standard for hours together causing great hardships for the locals as passersby due to continuous traffic jams at Shakti Nagar, Gurah Bakshi Nagar and other adjoining localities due to ongoing construction work of flyovers on the Akhnoor road. Mayor directed the functionaries of traffic department to take best possible steps by way of diversion of vehicles during peak hours as well deployment more traffic staff at the Pawan Ice Cream Chowk to minimize the congestion of vehicles.
He also issued on spot instructions to the engineers of PWD accompanying with him to prepare suitable drawings as well as detail project report for widening of chowk and its leading roads where sufficient space is available and other allied works of this particular area within the shortest period of time so that general public may get sigh of relief from this worsened traffic scenario.
He also asked the commissioner JMC who is also the CEO of Jammu Smart City Project to initiate necessary measures for executing this development work and further beautify the Chowk under “Jammu Smart City Project” Vikram Gujral, Atul Bakshi, Karan Sharma & other prominent inhabitants of the locality as well as other supervisory staff of Traffic Police, PWD as well as JMC were also present there during the tour of the Mayor.
Besides this, Mayor alongwith Srinder Chowdhary, Engineers of UEED as well as Laxman Singh Jamwal Executive Engineer (Electrical), Rakesh Verma Assistant Executive Engineer (E), Ravi Kumar, Anirudh Kumar, Junior Engineers (E) and other supervisory staff of electrical wing of JMC as well as Ujwal Chopra representative of M/s Vaishno Association Agency Rajasthan who has been allotted the work of installation of remaining LED lights in Jammu City also visited ward no. 29 & reviewed the major issues of construction of Nallah by UEED and directed the concerned agency as well as Engineering wing (E) of JMC for laying of foundations for about 9 meters long electric poles for installation of LED street lights in this area after the completion of the work of the nallah by UEED so that the long pending issue of prevailing darkness in the locality can be resolved suitably.
