Jammu, June 19: GGM Science College hosts three-day inter-collegiate online Yoga Workshop Practice Yoga: A Gateway to Health and Happiness in collaboration with Bharatiya Yog Sansthan (Regd.) J&K celebrating 7th International Yoga Day theme yoga for well- being from 19th to 21st June under the patronage of Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan.
About 150 students and faculty from different colleges of JK UT participated in the online YOGA workshop. The workshop opened with welcome address of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan. Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.
By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day helping society in recovering Covid 19 impact.
Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, a social, cultural and non-profit making organization, serving the humanity/aspirants both within and outside India for the last 55 years now.
The Organization has dedicated itself to the cause of teaching Yoga to people free of cost. The mission “Jio aur Jivan do” is aimed at making people happy and healthy through Yoga, an ancient Indian science for physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
The resource persons were Dinesh District Pardhan of Bahu district and Bireshwar Jamwal Zonal Pardhan -Bahu zone.
The highlights of day one were use of yoga in reviving health. Building the mind and body connection by performing yoga asanas pranayama, suryanamaskar, shavasana, ushtasana, vajrasana, etc.by Bireshwar Jamwal .
The workshop also emphasized on the need of healthy lifestyle and stress management through meditation, boosting immunity through yoga exercises. The day one program ended with vote of thanks by NSS volunteer Parul. The program was coordinated by Jia Lal Sharma (Sec. BYS Jk) and Rakesh Kumar Gupta.
Earlier from 15th June NSS volunteers took part in series of events like slogan writing, poster making, practising yoga at home with family, sending pics of various asanas performed by volunteers, making their videos.
The awareness was done using social media platforms. Tanisha, Muskan, Parul, Monika, Arpana, Suhasini, Neeru, Vishakha, Vanshika, Tushar, Pallvi, Shaku, Ananya, Shriya, Nancy, Sajal, Gokul,Sahil Sharma participated in yoga awareness celebrating YOGA FOR WELL -BEING WEEK 15th to 21st June 2021.
