Vaccination of 45 & above age group: Health Block Sunderbani achieves 100% coverage
6/19/2021 11:23:24 PM

Early Timse Report

RAJOURI, June 19: Health Block Sunderbani has achieved 100% vaccination coverage of the 45 year & above age group after a long drawn drive overcoming many challenges, including vaccine hesitancy and advent of ragging second wave.
Like other districts of the Union Territory, elaborate arrangements were put in place for the successful launch of the vaccination drive in Rajouri as well on April 1, 2021.
However, the vaccination could not take off well due to protracted lockdown after the second wave and certain other reasons. Despite all odds, the district administration made effective planning to carry out the vaccination drive in the district in a hassle-free manner and without causing inconvenience to the public. Instructions were issued to Civil and Police authorities for facilitating the public during the lockdown.
Regardless of the added efforts of Civil, Police and Health authorities most of the people were not turning to the vaccination centres. This was due to the rumours being spread on the social media about the vaccination. The other reasons for the low vaccination rates were the geographical location of the district, scattered habitation, vaccine hesitancy and a few other reasons. To overcome this, the District Administration roped in Sarpanchs, Panchs, religious leaders, citizens, Experienced Health professionals and launched a massive campaign on social media making fervent appeals to motivate people to come out of their houses and shun vaccine hesitancy.
Later more aggressively, special Panchayat wise teams were constituted to go for door to door vaccination and as a result of which there is a considerable increase in the percentage of vaccination in the 45 year and above age group. With the Efforts of the Health workers, Civil Administration Police and PRI’s the district Rajouri has touched 77 per cent in terms of vaccination of 45 years and above. While the Health Block Sunderbani has become the first Block in the district to have vaccinated all the persons falling in the age group 45 years and above.
