Strike on drug peddlers & bootleggers; 3 arrested

Reasi, June 19: In another major strike on drug peddling, surprise Nakas were laid, raids & searches were conducted in different areas of district Reasi.
During surprise naka checking at Chaklass, team of Police Station Mahore intercepted a vehicle Eco bearing registration number JK02B 1941 coming from Gool towards Mahore and & searched.
Two notorious drug peddlers namely Masood ul Hassan S/O Mohd Iqbal and Jamal Din S/O Mohd Amin both residents of Bassan Tehsil Thuroo were arrested after recovery of 380 gms of Charas like substance from their possession while transporting it from Kashmir to Mahore.
In this regard case FIR no 36/2021 U/S 8/20/29 NDPS Act is registered in Police Station Mahore and investigations initiated.
Both the accused are of dubious characters; Masood remained involved in bovines smuggling also and FIR no 32/2021 U/S 188 IPC and 11 PC Act stands registered at Police Station Arnas.
Whereas other accused Jamal Din remained involved in FIR no 04/2010 U/S 458, 382, RPC, 4/25 Arms Act and FIR no 19/2010 U/S 392,34 RPC, 4/25 Arms Act of Police Station Mahore and facing trial in the Court of law. He will be put under continuous surveillance after opening his history sheet.
In another instance of illicit liquor smuggling, team of Police Station Pouni apprehended an illicit liquor smuggler
Mangi Singh S/O Kaka Singh R/O Kharlair tehsil Pouni while distilling at his home and recovered 5 litres of illicit liquor from his possession & destroyed 100 litres of lahan on spot.
In this regards FIR no 35/2021 U/S 48 a, e Excise Act stands registered at Police Station Pouni and investigations initiated.
“Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh” is a drive of Reasi Police against drug abuse is continued in every nook and corner of the jurisdiction, in which drugs are being seized, lahan and illegal distilleries are being destroyed and Illicit liquor being seized.
Under the drive 75 Case FIR have been registered against 95 offenders since Shailender Singh took over the charge of SSP Reasi in last week of march this year.
People of Reasi particularly women folk are appreciating the efforts of team Reasi in taking action against illicit liquor vendors on such a large scale which leads to curb the menace of illicit liquor in the area. In the COVID pandemic, people are complimenting the police through telephone messages & voice calls.
