Early Times Report
KATHUA, July 29: Following the cancellation of a no-confidence motion against Municipal Council (MC) Kathua President and Vice President on July 26, the Councilors moved a fresh no-confidence motion. The application seeking floor test signed by 12 Councilors of the Council was submitted by Councilor Ravinder Singh Pathania to MC President and CEO.
Ravinder Pathania while interacting with the media said that previously the meeting was proposed on July 26, but the same was cancelled as there were flaws in their procedure and MC Kathua President and Vice President succeeded in getting the meeting cancelled.
"However this time we are following the proper procedure because some by-laws have been changed due to the change of J&K State as Union Territory," Pathania said, adding that they hope that sooner than later the meeting will be held.
Answering a query, Pathania said that all twelve councilors stand united and both President and Vice-President will have to leave their chairs for the welfare and development of the town.
It is pertinent to mention here that a tug of war is going on in MC Kathua for a no-confidence motion against MC Kathua President Naresh Sharma and Vice President Rekha Kumari.
On July 26, the proposed floor test scheduled in support of a no-confidence motion against MC President Naresh Sharma and Vice-President Rekha Kumari was announced cancelled. CEO giving reference of circular released by MC, informed rebel councilors that in view of order of the J&K Special Tribunal wherein it had passed instructions for ad-interim relief to the President Naresh Sharma and Rekha Devi that both the parties i.e. Petitioners and Respondents have to maintain the status quo on the spot.
It is pertinent to mention here that MC Kathua has strength of 21 Councilors. Out of 21 Councilors, 12 had brought no-confidence motion against President Naresh Sharma and Vice-President Rekha Kumari.
