JAMMU, July 31: NSS Units GDC Kathua observed Martyrs Day of Shaheed Udham Singh under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav Celebration. The event was organized under patronage of Principal Prof Assa Ram Sharma. A symposium was organized in which more than twenty volunteers took part.Volunteers shared their views on the life and contribution of Shaheed Udham Singh. Principal Prof Assa Ram Sharma also addressed the volunteers and threw light on the life and sacrifice of Udham Singh. He said Shaheed Udham Singh is best known for the assassination of Michael O'Dwyer as retaliation to Jallianwala Bagh massacre. To commemorate the day of Shaheed Udham Singh a plantation drive was also organized by the volunteers in their respective homes and localities. Volunteers also involved the locals in the plantation drive. Volunteers planted numbers of saplings of different varieties of fruits, flowers, herbs and shady trees like Pipal tree, Guava, Mango, Tulsi, Lemon, Satpatra etc in their home garden and vicinity. This drive was dedicated to the martyr Shaheed Udham Singh. The event was organized under the supervision of NSS Prog officers Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Ritu Kumar Sharma and Prof Neha Bandral.
