Harsh urges EC for impartial probe into election frauds, bunglings
7/31/2021 11:38:37 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, July 31: Seeking unbiased and impartial probe into the complaints of massive irregularities, bunglings, frauds, manipulations and massing rigging in the conduct of DDC polls held in District Udhampur in December 2020, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman-JKNPP and former Minister has expressed the hope that State Election Commissioner would ensure that Justice prevails. Singh disclosed that the complaint against the massive rigging and other malpractices in DDC elections of District Udhampur had been lodged with CBI by the Panthers Party on 15th of June, 2021. The said complaint has been transferred by CBI to State Election Commissioner vide its no. 674/CA0042021A0174 dated 15-07-2021. The CBI has further sent a communiqué to the Panthers Party informing it that the “enquiry/investigation in the complaint is being forwarded” to the State Election Commissioner for taking requisite action. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Speaking to media persons, Singh maintained that not only were the complaints made by NPP to District Udhampur authorities during and after the said elections disregarded, but the Election machinery was seen openly promoting the ruling party candidates and allowing them to brazenly use the administrative paraphernalia in furtherance of their electoral prospects.
Singh revealed that the reply to RTI application had admitted that there were discrepancies in District Udhampur in the number of votes polled on the day of polling and the votes actually found in the ballot boxes in 12 out of the 14 DDC constituencies of the said District. And while there was no difference between the votes polled and votes found in ballot boxes in all other Districts as per the reply of SEC, it was District Udhampur alone where such discrepancies had been noticed, divulged Singh.
Singh asserted that with all such irregularities having been admitted by the SEC in conduct of DDC polls in District Udhampur which remained the centre of controversies even during the said elections, the entire election process gets vitiated and becomes void ab initio. He further revealed that while reply to the said RTI was being delayed and denied by concerned authorities, it was only after filing the appeal against the said authorities that the reply was provided on the 60th day of filing of the said application.
Calling upon the Election Commission to declare the DDC elections of District Udhampur as null and void in view of disclosures made in RTI reply, Singh said that party would launch massive public awareness campaign against the brazen subversion of democracy and blatant bulldozing of constitutional guarantees in J&K especially in District Udhampur. He sought strict action against concerned officers and other District Udhampur authorities who facilitated the process of subversion of democracy.
Yashpaul Kundal (General Secretary-JKNPP & Ex-Minister); Rajeshwar Singh Sambyal (District President-Samba Urban); Mohinder Singh (District Youth President-Samba); Vishab Singh (President Panthers Trade Union-Samba) and Devender Singh were also present in the press conference
