DC Ramban reviews functioning of Education Department
Calls for effective measures to improve literacy rate

RAMBAN, July 31: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam today reviewed the functioning of Education department here at a meeting. The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Rajinder Sharma; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal; Chief Planning Officer, Kasturi Lal; Chief Education Officer (CEO),Vinod Koul, Zonal Education Officers and other concerned. The DC had a detailed review of the functioning of all educational institutions of the district from concerned Zonal Education Officers. The meeting also reviewed the developmental activities in the Education sector being implemented through PRIs, SAMAGRA, status of school buildings under SAMAGRA, dropout rate, staff position and financial progress of all the works.
The CEO informed that 678 schools out of 872 schools in the district have been linked to on-line classes and community classes.
The DC directed the CEO and the ZEOs to ensure that students are reached through on-line classes, community classes etc so that there is no further loss of studies due to the pandemic. The DC took a comprehensive review of the developmental works being executed by different Execution Agencies. He directed the concerned to expedite the work to overcome the problem of accommodation in the schools. He directed the ZEOs to monitor the progress of work on a regular basis.
He further directed the CEO to ensure that the available funds are used judicially without letting any amount lapse. The ZEOs were asked to coordinate with the engineering wing while keeping track of all the ongoing works under various schemes viz Capex works, SAMAGRA works etc.
The DC took a serious note on the low Literacy Rate in the district. He directed the CEO and ZEOs to work on improving the literacy rate in the district. The ZEOs were also directed to achieve the set targets for various scholarship schemes of the Social Welfare Department and other centrally welfare schemes especially for girls. He asked everyone to work diligently and meticulously for better utilization of resources and enable the students to reap the benefits of various government schemes.
He directed them to ensure the availability of drinking water, power and toilets in all schools at an earliest and no girl student leaves her studies due to the unavailability of toilets.
