Enforcement deptts asked not to allow parking of Trucks on NHW

SAMBA, July 31: Deputy Commissioner Samba Anuradha Gupta today asked the enforcement departments not to allow roadside parking of trucks on the National Highway and route all the stranded vehicles to the space at Gagwal identified for the purpose.
The DC was chairing the District Road Safety Committee meeting convened to review the implementation of Road safety plan and formulate the roadmap for the year 2021-22.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Sharma, Assistant Road transport officer Rehana Tabassum, District Information Officer Ajay Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Dr Sanjay Turki, Executive Engineer PWD, NHAI, representatives of Traffic police, MVD, besides other committee members.
The Deputy Commissioner while reviewing the action taken report, set one week deadline for establishing parking space for the stranded trucks at 60 kanal land identified in Ghagwal and also directed to ensure that highways are cleared from truck parking.
She said that parking of trucks on highways is creating inconvenience to the commuters and all the stranded trucks should be allowed to park inside identified parking at Ghagwal. The DC further directed to identify land for development of a parking lot at Bari Brahmana.
During the meeting, it was informed that flyover work from Maheshwar Chowk to Samba and underpass at Mansar Morh have been allotted to a firm and the work on it will be started soon.
The DC laid emphasis upon conducting frequent enforcement drives in order to educate masses about the significance of road safety. She also constituted special teams for enforcement of the MVA Act.
She directed EO municipalities to formulate a comprehensive proposal for installation of street lights on vulnerable black spots. It was informed that the road fatality rate has decreased 15 percent in the district with 51 road mishap deaths in 2020 against 59 in the year 2019.
