Quiz competition on "Organic and Inorganic Chemistry" organized

KATHUA, Aug 28: A National level online quiz competition was organized by the Department of Chemistry, Govt. Degree College Kathua on the topic "Organic and Inorganic Chemistry" based on syllabus of Semester 6th of University of Jammu. A total of 281 participants from different Colleges and Universities from all over India participated and enriched their experience in Multiple Choice Questions on the topics UV, IR and 1H-NMR Spectroscopy, Active Methylene Compounds, Catalysis, Chemical Explosives, Batteries, Fertilizers, s and p Block. A total of 85 MCQ's were asked in the Quiz covering all these topics.
The National Online Quiz Competition was organized under overall supervision and Guidance of Prof. Asha Ram Sharma, Principal of the College, by the Organizing committee which comprised of Prof. Rakesh Singh (Convener), Dr. Anupma Arora (Co- Convener), Dr. Pankaj Gupta (Organising Secretary), Dr. Ambica, Dr. Upasna Andotra and Dr. Roshan Pakhroo, members of Organizing committee of the Quiz competition.
Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convenor of the National Level Online Quiz competition giving details of Quiz told that that students from different colleges of Jammu & Kashmir and other states and Union territories like Andhra Pradesh, Gujrat, Karnataka, Kerala, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, MP, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, took part in the Online Quiz Competition.
He said that UG , PG Students and Research scholars of reputed Colleges and Universities and Institutions of India like University of Mumbai, AMU Lucknow , Chandigarh University, University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Cluster University Jammu, Pune University, Delhi University, , Kerala University, Anna University, Annamalai University, Bangalore North University, Bharathiar University, Bhopal University, Calicut University, Gujrat Technical University, Kerla University, Osmania University, Savitribai Phule University, Pune University, Shri Padnmabathi Mahila University etc. participated in the Online Quiz Competition. Participants securing 80 percent and above were awarded e-Certificates.
Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Organizing Secretary of the Online quiz competition while giving details told that both Mehak Verma, and Manish Kumar of Govt. Degree College, Kathua (J&K UT) secured 98 % and topped the competition. Upasna Devi of GDC,Kathua (J&K UT) secured 97 % marks and stood 2nd . Suhani of Govt Degree College Kathua secured 96 percent and stood 3rd. Mayoor Khan of Govt Degree College Mendhar and Hardev Singh of Govt Degree College Kathua secured 92 % and stood 4th.
Principal of the College, Prof. Asha Ram Sharma appreciated the contribution of Department of Chemistry for preparing the students as per latest pattern of MCQ examination during this tough time of Covid-19 pandemic, when regular class work was not possible.
