ADGP Armed conducts darbar of IRP Battalions

SRINAGAR, Aug 28: S.J.M. Gillani-IPS, ADGP Armed J&K visited Armed Police Complex Kehribal, Mattan today to take the stock of the functioning and welfare of jawans of IRP Battalions located in the APC Kheribal and Khanabal (Anantnag).
During his visit, the ADGP conducted darbar of officers and jawans of IRP-10th, 11th and 17th battalions jointly following all the norms of social distancing and other protocols of COVID-19.The darbar was aimed to hear the problems of jawans and their on-spot redressal by the ADGP besides taking the stock of functioning of the units.
During the darbar the officers and jawans of the units put forth several personal as well as departmental problems mostly pertaining to their transfers on account of domestic problems. The ADGP patiently listen to the grievances of jawans and officers and assured them that their problems falling within the competency of APHQ shall be examined at APHQ level and accordingly redressed on merit and other issues shall be taken-up with the PHQ on priority for appropriate action.
While addressing the officers and jawans on the occasion, the ADGP stressed upon them to promote police public relations and maintain discipline of highest order. Highlighting the necessity of remaining extra alert/ vigilant and wearing proper anti-riot and BP gear while performing law & order duty, the ADGP stressed upon the supervisory officers at unit coy as well as platoon level to exercise proper control upon the men under their command and ensure that where nothing wrong is allowed to go unnoticed, good work done by the individual should also be appreciated.
The ADGP also advised the supervisory officers at all levels to patiently hear the grievances of their subordinates who so ever approaches them for redressal of their grievances and take appropriate action on genuine grievances put-forth before them by their subordinates. Hearing a subordinate patiently by his supervisor is the first solace which a subordinate expects from his supervisor and motivates him to a great extent for better and result oriented performance. The ADGP also apprised the officers and men about the new policies introduced by the Govt. regarding reviewing performance of work of Govt. employees and advised them to work with dedication and sincerity and always come up to the expectations of the people whom they serve in any manner.
Highlighting the welfare measures being taken by the PHQ for its officers and Jawans, the ADGP said that the promotion of eligible officers and men commensurate to the vacancies are being made continuously by the Armed Police Headquarters. He said that during the current year Armed Police Headquarters J&K issued promotion orders of its 3273 officers/ officials which include promotion of 90 ASIs to the rank of SIs, 151 HCs to the rank of ASIs, 25 SgCts to the rank of HCs & promotion of 3007 Constables to the rank of Sg.Constables. Further promotion cases of 563 police personnel of Armed Police including 105 HCs and 457 SgCts have also been processed/ finalized, but their promotion orders shall be issued after they qualify the prescribed pre-promotion course for their promotion to their next rank.
The ADGP also assured the jawans that matter shall be taken up with PHQ for looking into the issue of the inordinate stagnation in HC rank in Armed Police.
The ADGP laid emphasis on the prevailing security scenario and need for exercising extra alertness on the part of police personnel on their respective assignments. He stressed for ensuring round the clock foolproof security of the complex housing the Headquarters of the units and coys thereof, besides police family quarters in the premises of the complex.
The ADGP stressed for maintaining social distance, wearing mask and washing hands frequently in order to contain spread of Corona Virus. He advised the unit personnel to be health conscious. He said the jawans to maintain proper hygiene and keep themselves physically fit by doing the P.T, Games, Yoga and Static exercises/ walk besides taking utmost care of the quality of food they take. The ADGP advised the concerned Commandants and Coy-Commanders to ensure that quality food is provided to the jawans and ensure that proper hygiene is maintained in and around the unit as well as coy level messes/ canteens in particular and the entire premises of APC in general.
During the said visit the ADGP was accompanied by his Staff Officer Shri Mahmood Ahmad-SSP, Pvt. Secretary to ADGP Armed J&K and Syed Sajad Hussain-DySP(S), DySP (Pers) APHQ Shri Abdul Hamid Dar.
The ADGP appreciated the efforts put in place by the Commandants IRP-10th & 17th Bns to upkeep the APC Kheribal and their role in maintaining law & order since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the valley as well.
On the occasion, the ADGP Armed J&K S.J.M Gillani-IPS also inaugurated a Gym and Canteen established by IR 10th Bn and Quarter Guard of IRP 17th Bn in APC Kheribal premises.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Fayaz Ahmad Lone-SSP Commandant IRP-10th BN. expressed his gratitude to the ADGP for his visit to the APC Kehribal and boosting the morale of the jawans. The CO also briefed the ADGP about other infrastructural requirements of the complex besides different assignments, the units are presently performing.
