| SKUASTJ submits papers of Mandi Walnut Farmer Producer organization | | |

Jammu, Aug 29: SKUAST-Jammu Under the guidance of Dr. J P Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu and Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu is promoting formation of 9 FPOs in different districts of Jammu Division.
On behalf of SKUAST-Jammu; Dr. Ajay Gupta, Sr Scientist and Head, KVK Poonch handed over the relevant documents of Mandi Farmer Producer Organizations to Assistant Registrar, Cooperatives, Mandi on 27 August 2021. An Adhoc committee was formed by 11 Board members in presence of Assistant Registrar Sh Saleem Malik in which Sh Rafiq Mandi of Bedar was elected as President/Chief Promoter, Mohd. Bashir of Gagrian as Vice President and Sh Farooq Ahmed of Rajpura was elected as Secretary of the Cooperative Ltd. The Cooperative Society at Mandi Block is being registered with the name Mandi Walnut Farmers Producer Cooperative Limited for which the relevant documents have been submitted today. On this occasion, Dr Ajay Gupta informed that KVK Poonch of SKUAST-Jammu is providing technical knowhow for promotion and formation of FPOs in Mandi and had several meetings with the farmers of village panchayats to motivate the farmers for formation of farmer producer Organizations in the Block. He further elaborated that Farmer Producer Organizations will help in getting higher prize of Agricultural commodity especially maize and walnut to the farmers. After registration, SKUAST-Jammu will extend full help in Business planning, value addition and marketing led activities of the farmer Producer Organization, he informed. He congratulated Board members for the initiation of registration Process of Farmer producer Organizations in the Block.
He thanked the Principal Investigator of Project Dr Pawan Sharma and Co-PIs of the Project and also thanked the officials of Department especially Anees Sohail who extended all cooperation in motivating and the farmers for the promotion of FPOs in the Block. Sh Abhinav Sharma, Sh Dharampal Singh, Mfrs. Harneet Kaur and Ms. Divya Sharma; technical Assistant from SKUAST-Jammu were also present today.
