FIR registered for sharing communally sensitive content on social media

KISHTWAR, Sept 1: Kishtwar police while taking a strong note of a video which was in circulation in the social media showing Skin of bovine animal has registered an FIR and detained some people involved in creating a communal divide for questioning.
Speaking to Early Times, senior police officials inform that considering the sensitivity of the video clip with respect to communal harmony in the area cognizance was taken and a case FIR No.206/2021 has been registered in Police Station Kishtwar under relevant sections of law added that the cyber cell of the District Police was activated ,teams constituted and deputed for the arrest of accused persons. Subsequently, few suspects has been picked up for questioning and ascertaining the facts.
After preliminary investigation, it surfaced that the video was reportedly shot in a nallah of Palmar area of Police Station Kishtwar. Furthermore, the miscreants are warned not to circulate any video which will disturb the peace and communal harmony of the area, otherwise action under law shall be initiated against them. The sources told the Early Times that the miscreants in order to frame some innocent people after seeing the dead animal in a Nallah enacted a drama to create an impression that some people were involved in slaughtering of the animals.
"This simply looks a plot to frame an innocent people- the preliminary inquiry suggested that the animal died of natural death and the miscreants tried to settle the score with few persons having enmity with them- by portraying the incident as that of slaughtering" said the official wishing not to be named added that police is probing the role of detained persons and inform that senior officials will brief the media accordingly once the investigation will reach to logistic conclusion.
The officials urge the people not to fall prey to social media posts and urge them to help the police and administration to maintain peace and communal harm.
