Rahul Gandhi likely to visit Jammu next week

JAMMU, Sept 5: Former Congress President and Member of Parliament (MP) Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Jammu next week. This was disclosed here today by the AICC Incharge J&K Affairs and ex-MP, Rajni Patil in a meeting of senior party leaders including PCC functionaries, District Presidents, former legislators, Corporators and heads of frontal wings. Rajni Patil was the chief guest on the occasion while Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Comitttee (JKPCC) President G A Mir chaired the meeting. It was disclosed that Rahul Gandhi will straightway visit the holy Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Shrine and on his return will later interact with the important functionaries of Blocks, Districts, Congress representatives of PRIs, leaders of frontal wings of the party during his two days stay in Jammu. Gandhi shall also interact with the members of extended Working Committe including former Ministers, Legislators, AICC, PCC and DCC delegates and heads of frontal wings. During the meeting, Rajni Patil got the inputs and suggestions about the proposed visit of Rahul Gandhi and discussed the preparatory arrangements to be made to finalize the schedule of visit. JKPCC Chief G A Mir said that Rahul Gandhi will take the feedback from the ground about the state of affairs and the feelings of people after disbanding and downgrading of the historical state into UT and current spell of central rule.
Meanwhile, earlier a convention of JKPCC SC Department was addressed at the party office by the AICC Incharge Rajni Patil. The convention was organized by the newly appointed Chairman of the SC Department Dr Karan Bhagat. PCC President G A Mir and other prominent functionaries of PCC were also present. Patil told the gathering that Congress has always protected and promoted the interests of the down trodden and weaker sections of the society and is committed to their upliftment and empowerment in all spheres of life. Mir appreciated the efforts of newly appointed Chairman SC Department of PCC for stepping up activities of the organization and hoped that the Department shall reach out to the targeted sections in all areas to educate the people of their rights.
